Sparrow wants to give sustainable support. For this reason we deliberately chose to focus on one community, namely Lazareto. In this way our limited support can be as effective as possible and this also gives us the opportunity to establish relationships with the community’s members. Help can only be effective if the target group supports the projects.

Sparrow has started with two projects: the Scholarship Program and the Medical Fund. These two great projects are of huge help to the inhabitants of Lazareto. Besides this these projects give us a very good opportunity to get acquainted with the people of the community. Another project which meets this goal too, is the weekly Open Office. Our aim is to establish a good relationship with the inhabitants within some years, in order to be able to set up projects together. We can then start projects in areas they themselves experience as difficult and which they want to work on. In this way the community’s members will feel responsible for the projects. An example of a project which has been set up like this is the Seminar project.

Sparrow operates from a Christian perspective. Our faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Who died for our sins, is the motive for our work. Sparrow gives support to people regardless of their religious, political or ethnic backgrounds. However, Sparrow wants to show its motive to help by telling people God gives everlasting life to anyone who believes in Jesus. This is the most beautiful gift you can get, meaning much more than any aid.
