For most people living under the poverty threshold medical care is not accessible. Even diseases which are easy to cure often have fatal consequences because of a lack of money for medical care. Public hospitals offer free services, but the costs of necessary instruments, materials and medication still have to be paid. Even small surgeries often amount to large expenses in the order of several hundreds of euro's.

Every day Sparrow sees examples of this heartbreaking problem and therefore the Medical Fund is set up. In severe situations people can apply for money from this fund, for example in order to have surgery or to be able to buy medicines.

In the Philippines the authorities often provide medical funds, but many poor people do not know how to get access to these funds because of their poor education or lack of self-confidence. The Sparrow Medical Fund helps people to receive money from these funds from the local authorities.
